2010 Outstanding Staff Member
Mrs. Emily Sisk, Coordinator of Grants Development, Biotechnology and Allied Health, is the 2010 Cleveland Community College Outstanding Staff Member award recipient. Mrs. Sisk is a 1995 graduate of Burns High School and holds a Master of Arts in Agricultural Education and Bachelor of Science in Poultry Science from North Carolina State University. She has been employed with Cleveland Community College in several capacities including; part-time Biotechnology Research Specialist, Biotechnology Program Coordinator and Biotechnology faculty member, and in 2007 became the Coordinator of Grants Development. She was also a teacher at Burns Middle School and while there was awarded Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Sisk is a member of the North Carolina Council of Officers for Resource Development, American Grant Writers Association and North Carolina BioNetwork. She is also a member of Freedom Biker Church in Hickory and serves in the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Mrs. Sisk served on the Belwood Town Council and was honored for her Outstanding Service to the Town of Belwood, 2005-2009. Mrs. Sisk says the nomination and win came as a surprise, “I was shocked at the nomination and winning the award. I am thankful to be a part of the CCC family and help in advancing the College to the next level.” She and her husband, Don, have one son and currently reside in Belwood.
