Diploma Practical Nursing

There is a critical shortage of nurses throughout our nation, longer life expectancies and a growing elder population will intensify the demand. Nursing jobs rank among the top 10 growing occupations, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor is projecting between a 21 to 35% increase in the next decade.

The practical nursing program will prepare you for a career in medicine. This program can be competed in one year.  Completion of this nursing program will make the graduate eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) which is required for practice as a licensed practical nurse.  Under the supervision of a physician or a registered nurse, the nurse will perform care for individuals, families, and communities. The scope of nursing practice involves four areas: promoting health and wellness, preventing illness, restoring health, and caring for the dying.

Enjoy employment opportunities in virtually every nursing specialty, as a practical nurse; you may work in a doctor's office or clinic, hospital, nursing home, or in a private home care. You will perform a broad range of duties in many diverse health care settings including caring for newborns, the aged, homebound, or mentally ill. You will soon find that a career as a practical nurse offers many satisfying rewards.
