2007 Outstanding Staff Member
Andy Gardner, Director of Financial Aid, is the 2007 Cleveland Community College Foundation Outstanding Staff Member Award winner. Gardner has worked at CCC since 1997. He graduated from CCC in 1995 with an Associate in Arts degree. In 1997, he earned a B.S. in Accounting from Gardner-Webb University and in 2003 a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University.
Gardner
began his career with the College in 1997 as Financial Aid Coordinator. He was
promoted to Director of Financial Aid in 2001. Gardner is a member of the North
Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, National
Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, Southern Association of
Student Financial Aid Administrators, and American Association of Collegiate
Registrars and Admissions Officers. Gardner serves on the Financial Aid,
Scholarship, Calendar, Curriculum, Registration, and Enrollment Management
Committees. He is a 2002 graduate of the Chamber’s Cleveland County Leadership
Program.
Gardner attends Putnam Baptist Church and serves on the board of the Pregnancy Resource Center. He and his wife, Heather, reside in Shelby along with their four children, Katie, Emma, Nathan, and Ian.
The Outstanding Staff Member Award is presented each year to a candidate who demonstrates exceptional work performance. The award recipient, nominated by a member of the faculty or staff, receives a $500 stipend for professional development and/or administrative enhancement. This is the fifth year of the award.
