Finding books and videos:

Many of our nursing books are located in the NURSING RESERVE section on the first floor of the library. Some of these books are library use only; some may be borrowed for three days. Materials in the NURSING RESERVE area and all materials identified with a blue dot are only available for circulation to students who have been admitted to a nursing program at Cleveland Community College.

To locate other books and videos, use the CCLINC online catalog. Use the CCLINC online catalog to search for Cleveland's materials first.

If we don't have the item you need, expand your search to "ALL" libraries to search for materials in other community college libraries. Use the "Request" button, then "Place a Hold" to order materials. You will need your library card number and PIN (last four digits of your social security number) to place requests. (Need help? See Instructions for placing a hold.) Books from other libraries will be delivered to Cleveland Community College Library.

If you are looking for a particular item and you cannot find it from any of the schools in our catalog, come to the library circulation desk to get an interlibrary loan form so we can order it for you from a different library. You may also submit interlibrary loan requests by e-mail to hollifieldj@cleveland.cc.nc.us.

Reserve nursing books and all nursing journals are kept on the main level near the photocopier. Other nursing books can be found in the R section of the reference and main collections.

Finding journal articles and online reference materials:

The library subscribes to a number of print journals to support research in the health sciences, particularly nursing. Students who need a copy of an article from a journal that is not on our Nursing Periodicals list may contact any staff member at the circulation desk or send the request to williams@cleveland.cc.nc.us.

The Cleveland Community College library subscribes to various databases that allow you to search and retrieve the full text of journal or magazine and reference articles from online sources.

Cleveland's online subscription databases:

Health Reference Center (full-text)

NC LIVE databases:

Clinical Reference System (full-text info on diseases & their symptoms)

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition (full-text articles from scholarlyl journals)

USP DI Volume II, Advice for the Patient (full-text, patient-oriented drug information)

Also, use the list of medical and health resources that NC LIVE provides.

You will need passwords to access these databases from off-campus. The passwords are available to Cleveland Community College and Foothills Nursing Consortium students. Call the circulation desk at 484-4024, stop by the Cleveland Community College Library circulation desk, or send an email request for passwords to statonc@cleveland.cc.nc.us.

Finding material on the Internet:

Browse our list of Useful Internet Sites for Nursing, Radiology, and Allied Health.
Use this list to find information on student nursing issues, professional organizations and much more.

For Paper Writers:

Browse to Online Citation Information for APA, MLA, and Chicago styles. Also, the library keeps a current copy of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) at the circulation desk. Just ask.
