Probably the most comprehensive collection of reference materials on the web, along with full text of verse, fiction, and non-fiction, including the complete Harvard Classics.

Project Gutenberg
This project is an ongoing effort to provide electronic access to books that are in the public domain. Included titles range from light literature such as Alice in Wonderland to more serious works such as The Bible and the works of Shakespeare. References such as Roget's Thesaurus are also included.
