Library Collection Development

The links here should help you locate materials that might be appropriate to add to our Library collection. You might want to look at the Faculty Library Handbook and the Collection Development Manual for information regarding the faculty's role in collection development.

To find books:
 
Books in Print is a professional bibliographic database with book reviews. E-mail your requests from BIP to Emily King. For access off campus send a BIP password request.
Choice Reviews Online reviews significant current books and electronic resources of interest to those in higher education. E-mail your requests from Choice to the library.
WorldCat is a Union catalog of materials held in libraries world-wide. This is a good database for locating books and videos.

You might try searching in Academic Search Premier or any other online database for reviews. Include the words "book review" in your keyword search. Also, journals in your field often contain reviews of new titles. Current issues of print journals are located on the second level of the library. Use Periodicals A-Z to locate full-text journals online.
