TO FALL SEMESTER 2004
MEET THE SGA
EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (OFFICERS) FOR 2004-2005
SGA President, Stephanie Hanners,
served as an SGA Senator for 2002-2003. Stephanie, a 1997 graduate of North Stanley High School, is a member of Phi Theta
Kappa and Campus Crusade for Christ. She is enrolled in the Associate of Arts
program and plans to transfer to UNC- Asheville after graduating from Cleveland.
LaQuetta Surratt,
SGA Vice President, served as SGA President for 2003-2004 and as Treasure for
2002-2003. LaQuetta, a 2001 graduate of Burns High School, is enrolled in the Associate
in Arts program. After graduating from CCC, she plans to transfer to Gardner-Webb University and major in political science.
Crystal Lopez, SGA Secretary, served as senator for 2003-2004.
Crystal attended Bessemer City High School and is enrolled in the Criminal
Justice program.
SGA Treasurer Steven Gstundner,
who served as a senator for 2003-2004, is a 2002 graduate of Burns High School. Steven is enrolled in the Associate
in Arts program.
SELECTION OF
SGA SENATORS
The SGA Executive Council is looking for a few good
Senators. If you are interested in becoming a Senator, please obtain and
complete an application from Student Services or the SGA Advisor.
Duties of a Senator are the following:
- Maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and uphold the
Student Code of Conduct;
- Actively serve on a committee;
- Perform duties in the SGA office as assigned;
- Attend, if possible, one N4CSGA conference;
- Attend, numerous activities sponsored by the SGA;
- Serve as the liaison between SGA and his/her fellow students;
- Perform other duties as needed to maintain an active and effective
SGA.
ACADEMIC
AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
WELCOME BACK
STUDENTS
On August 25, the SGA sponsored a WELCOME BACK STUDENTS
Day/Evening from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. and 5:30
p.m.–8:00 p.m. in the student parking lot. Snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy were
served as part of the celebration.
BLOODMOBILES
One of SGA’s goals for 2004-2005
is to sponsor five bloodmobiles. We held our first bloodmobile on August 25, 2004. Fifty-seven people presented, and 52 units were
collected. Other bloodmobiles are scheduled for October 20, December 15,
February 9, and April 6. The bloodmobiles begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 3:30
p.m.
and are held in the Student Activities Center. Donors must be 17 years old
or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health. The
bloodmobiles are co-sponsored by the Shelby Rotary Club, Cleveland Headline
News, and The Knights of Columbus of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Please come
and “give the gift of life” and help us reach our goal of 60 productive units.
The entire process takes approximately one hour.
