WEBSITE GUIDELINES
Purpose:
The purpose of the Cleveland Community College Website is to support the mission of the College by providing online information concerning the College’s mission, programs, services, and events and by offering access to educational resources and navigational aids for College students, faculty, and staff.
The quality of information published by the College plays an important role in presenting the College to the community and maintaining its reputation and image. This document sets forth minimum standards to ensure that information published electronically is visually appealing, well written and follows the same high standards as other forms of published information. These are necessary to give the CCC Website uniformity so it represents one institution, while at the same time allowing the site to be both interesting and an expression of our multiple initiatives.
Types of pages:
Official college web pages are all web pages that provide general information about the college, the educational programs, services, personnel and events offered by the college including but not limited to the Home Page. Design and content of official pages will be guided by the Division of Community Relations and Development to achieve consistency and coherence.
Division/Department/Course web pages are created by designated representatives of the division, department, program, or by individual course instructors who are responsible for content and maintenance. Developers of these pages will follow the CCC web page authoring and publishing guidelines. Page templates can be provided upon request. The appropriate vice president, dean, department chair and/or program directors are responsible for the frequent review of content, changes, and additions for pages in their area.
Special Interest web pages can be created by committees, faculty, clubs, and class project participants. The committee chair, club advisor, course instructor or appropriate full-time employee is responsible for content, design and maintenance of these pages. All special interest pages must contain the disclaimer as specified in the CCC web page authoring and publishing guidelines.
WEB PAGE AUTHORING AND PUBLISHING GUIDELINES
All web pages must be developed using the following guidelines or be subject to removal.
All subject matter on web pages should relate to curriculum, instruction, College-authorized activities or general information that is appropriate. Therefore, neither staff nor students may publish personal interest web pages as part of Cleveland Community College’s Website, or web pages for other individuals or organizations not directly affiliated with the College. Faculty/staff or student work may be published only as it relates to a class project, course, or to the educational enrichment of the consumer.
Regarding the question of quality or propriety of web page material, appearance, or content, the judgment of the administration will prevail and web pages may be deleted without notice.
All web pages must be free of spelling and grammatical errors.
Each page must be dated to show the latest revision. This should be done with a line at the bottom of the page such as "last modified April 24, 2003." All pages should be revised as needed and must be updated annually.
When the page contains time-specific material (concert, course syllabus, etc.) it must be kept current and accurate.
All content must adhere to copyright and trademark laws. Copyrighted and trademarked material of any kind may not be used without the copyright or trademark holder’s written permission.
Each web page must contain the email address of a contact for additional information.
Duplication should be avoided by providing links rather than recreating data already available.
Any college information must be consistent with official Cleveland Community College printed publications (i.e. Academic Bulletin & Student Handbook).
Student phone numbers, addresses and photographs must only be published if written permission of the student is on file.
All web pages must be given titles that clearly identify them.
Any graphic, sound, or video used on web pages should conform to standard web formats.
CCC is not responsible for instructor or student web content backup.
Commercial, for-profit solicitation, sales or advertising is prohibited. No link or page may be used for personal financial gain.
Use of the College logo
An official College logo must appear on every viewable page and must always provide a link to CCC’s home page (www.clevelandcommunitycollege.edu).
The logo must never be distorted from the acceptable variations provided here.
